Finance Manager: Falkirk

Founded in 2010, Candle Shack Limited has become a leading B2B supplier of premium candle-making materials, delivering to the EU and the UK from warehouses in The Netherlands and Scotland. With ambition to increase  growth rate year on year over the next 3 years, Candle Shack require to recruit an experienced Finance Manager.

Based in Falkirk – Salary £40,000 per annum plus benefits which include private healthcare, life assurance and free on-site parking.
Reporting to the Finance Director and supported by a part-time Accounts Assistant, you will play a critical role in managing and carrying out the day-to-day financial transactions of the Company including preparation of the monthly payroll process. You will also liaise with supply chain and customer service departments where there are shipping, payment and refund queries.

About You:
Whilst an accounting qualification is not essential, you must be able to demonstrate the following key knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practice
  • Solid knowledge IT skills, including proficiency in relevant accounting packages – the Company currently uses Orderwise
  • Strong understanding of tax codes and laws
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports
  • Proactive and confident approach
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and carrying out the day-to-day financial transactions of the Company
  • Working as a finance ‘business partner’ collaborating with several teams within the Company – supply chain, marketing and customer service
  • Assisting in the production of budgets and forecasts
  • Ensuring accurate financial analysis and planning
  • Working alongside the Finance Director to provide financial insights to contribute towards key business decisions
  • Providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support
  • Implementing and improving financial systems and processes
  • Preparing monthly payroll
  • Managing and mentoring one part-time member of staff

Demand & Supply Planner: Falkirk

With ambition to increase  growth rate year on year over the next 3 years, Candle Shack require to recruit an experienced Demand & Supply Planner.

The Role – Full Time Fixed Term Maternity Cover based in Falkirk – Salary £negotiable depending on experience.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and working alongside another Demand & Supply Planner you will play a critical role within this small but important team in improving the efficiencies of the Supply Chain operation within Candle Shack. This position requires strong analytical skills, a detail orientated approach, and the ability to adapt to a growing business environment.

About You
You will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
• Proven experience in supply chain management, preferably in a high-growth environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using supply chain management software and data analysis tools (i.e. Excel).
• Experience using an ERP/MRP system
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving business environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain Planning:

  • Place purchase orders with suppliers, maintain system delivery dates and ensure timely order acknowledgments are received.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand, plan procurement activities, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Utilize demand forecasting techniques to predict product demand and plan inventory accordingly accurately.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure a seamless flow of materials and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.

Supplier Management and Relations:

  • Proactively address supplier-related issues, such as shortages, quality concerns, or delivery delays.
  • Proactively maintain system supplier information such as lead time and pricing updates.
  • Prioritise incoming shipments depending on business need.
  • Arrange transport for goods ready for collection.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor supplier performance, escalating any issues as necessary.

Process Improvement and Operational Excellence:

  • Continuously analyse supply chain processes, identify bottlenecks, and contribute to improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Utilise data analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational excellence.
  • Implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to track supply chain performance, inventory accuracy to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
